The official name of the Torrita di Siena Band is the ‘Soc. Filarmonica Guido Monaco "La Samba"’.
Founded in 1850 during the reign of Leopoldo II of Tuscany at that time the Band played operettas in the most luxurious and well-known theaters of the time.
By the end of the 1960s the then conductor Maestro Emilio Meacci had made changes by starting a group of Majorettes thus changing the Band’s image and allowing it for the first time to play more traditional tunes.
From 1990 onwards helped by the local town council and the group’s passion and love for its music lead the Band to completely renew itself, quickly establishing a new reputation both nationally and overseas.

Today the ‘Filarmonica Torritese’ can count on 50 members made up of 30 musicians and 20 majorettes known as the ‘Brio Samba Ballet’.

From the Spring of 2005 ‘La Samba’ lined up with the Band at traditional parades thus becoming a true Marching Show Band and adding rock and pop tunes to its repertory of Samba and Paso Doble. By 2007 it was thus able to develop further and become a typical American-style Marching Band
